Shousenkyou Valley

Go Momma

Car Camping

The trip this past weekend was a huge success. Sparing you all of the details, we arrived to one of the bouldering areas in the Shousenkyou area and went boulder hunting. Star and I both found some fun boulders to pull on to our delight. Our plan for the evening was to either find a hotel in Kofu or car camp near the bouldering area. After a tasty Indian dinner we inquired at five hotels to no avail. So we headed up the mountain to "camp" for the night. It was chilly and Gavin was a bit congested, but his first night in the mountains was fun. I can not wait to go again.

The next morning we hiked/scrambled to another boulder field and practiced some good ol' boulder wrestling. I finally finished a problem that I had tried six months ago. Star played on a couple of boulders and I believe had a great day with Gavin and I. A sunny day and nice crisp air made for a good climbing day.

In trip news, we are starting to prepare for our trip to Austin/San Antonio. We are planning on seeing some friends that live in the area and are hoping to climb too. But of course that all depends on the littlest man.

Here are some pictures of our short trip.

  1. While parenthood is a complete adventure unto itself, I am always interested to learn how people integrate the passions they discovered before having kids into their new lives as parents. I love seeing Gavin out there joining you for these bouldering trips. Before long, he will be climbing up those rocks. And, of course, it will be interesting to watch what passions he develops for himself, too.

  2. wow- you guys are brave! we've only stayed in a hotel so far and that was quite challenging. car camping is a whole different level. we need to skype sometime!
